Per 4

In order to have a sustainable community, there should be more producers than primary consumers and more primary consumers than secondary consumers.  Cards were randomply passed out and the beginning populations were 4 hawks, 9 rabbits, & 8 grass.  By the 4^th generation the grass was extinct.  Even though there were 5 hawks & 3 rabbits remaining in generation 5, they would have starved within the next 3 generations.

A stable community needs to be in the shape of a pyramid.  Meaning that the population of producers (autotrophs) is the largest, then herbivores or 1^st level consumers, then carnivores or 2^nd level consumers. In each trophic level, the available energy goes down by a factor of 10.
